Wisconsin joined the Union in 1848, making it the thirtieth of all the states in the US. It is the country's twenty-fifth largest state, occupying 169,640 km2 worth of space. It is the twentieth most populated, with around approximately 5,893,718 individuals. Both these factors together combine to put the population density of Wisconsin at 108.8 persons per square mile - twenty-seventh among the 50 states.
